The correct FCC test plan depends on what the product does, how it emits radio-frequency energy, which bands it uses, its power level, bandwidth, modulation, antenna configuration, and intended installation. A product name alone is not sufficient to determine the applicable standard.

 

The review begins by separating intentional transmitters, unintentional radiators, incidental radiators, and licensed-radio functions. Each transmitter technology is then mapped to the applicable FCC rule part and measurement procedure. RF exposure, DFS, U-NII, modular, and simultaneous-transmission requirements are evaluated separately.

 

Standards and FCC Knowledge Database guidance are updated over time. The laboratory and certification team should confirm the current measurement procedure and KDB applicability before testing begins.
